In 2017, Van Lissick Enterprise, LLC consulting firm was established. VLE Owner and President Roderick T. Nicholson has over 40 years of experience in transportation, water resources, environmental, and administration. Mr. Nicholson received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a dual specialty in Environmental and Transportation Engineering.

Van Lissick Enterprise, LLC’s goals include consulting with our clients (both large and small) and business partners to develop effective strategy, planning, environmental, project management, and technical services to achieve their ultimate business and/or organizational goals.

Owner and President
VLE Owner and President Roderick T. Nicholson has over 40 years of experience in transportation, water resources, environmental, and administration. Prior to his retirement and the establishment of Van Lissick Enterprise, Rod worked for more almost 25 years with the Jackson, MS Airports District Office of the Federal Aviation Administration.
Some of the projects that he handled with FAA included a major extension of the west runway and terminal renovations at Huntsville International Airport (HSV). In addition, he served as the government Program Manager for terminal renovations at the Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) in preparation for the Hyundai automobile maker establishing a major manufacturing facility in Montgomery, AL.
Rod began his professional career as a Civil Engineer with District 1 (Schaumburg, IL) of the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). While at IDOT, I served as an Inspector on US Route 34 (Ogden Avenue) in DuPage County, IL, located about 30 miles west of the City of Chicago. This was a total reconstruction and lane-addition project with traffic signal modernization, storm sewer improvements, and involved extensive coordination with four municipalities and several utility companies.
Major Infrastructure Developments
For more than 10 years, Rod served as Mayor of Terry, MS (a small town about 15 miles due south of the state capitol of Jackson, MS). While serving as Mayor, he also shepherded major infrastructure developments which included:
- The construction of a new, award-winning City Hall building
- A new municipal library
- A new fire station/public works building
- A new water well
- Water and sewer extensions and Major Water quality Improvements
- Resurfacing projects along the major corridors in town.
Community and Economic Development
As Mayor, Mr. Nicholson was instrumental in bringing the following to Terry:
- Location of Fred’s Store (retail) to Terry, MS
- Location of Skinner’s Chevrolet (automobile dealership) to Terry, MS
- First Improvement of Town’s Fire Insurance rating in almost 50 years.
